Sinking Car Escape Game: In a Floating Car, Can You Get Out in 60 Seconds?

▶ PLAY FREE NOWNo download · Phone or PC · 3–5 minutes per run · 10 languages

“60 Seconds in a Sinking Car” is a free, choice-based sinking car escape game you play right in your browser. It’s an August night with more than 80 mm of rain per hour, and after overtime you’re driving the new hire Jiwoo home. The navigation routes you through an underpass, and the stream has swollen up to the embankment.

The city, roads and characters are all fictional and unrelated to any real accident. The correct choices follow real safety material (Korea’s Ministry of the Interior and Safety public action guidelines, Korea Transportation Safety Authority flood tests, fire department guidance, and Prof. Giesbrecht’s SWOC). This is part 2 of the Escape series in the Survival series.

How a run works

The clock at the top of the screen only stops while you decide (⏱ running / ⏸ paused). The 60 seconds after the car floats run in real time.

  1. Driving home in a downpour: put the escape hammer within reach, pocket your phone, and tell Jiwoo the escape steps in advance.
  2. The fork: drive into the flooded underpass, or turn back to the embankment road? You have 6 seconds to choose.
  3. The water hits: stay belted and brace, lower the window first, or abandon the stalled car right away?
  4. 60 seconds: the water climbs from ankles to knees, window, chest and ceiling. Belt → window → out.
  5. On the roof: give 119 your location, don’t jump into the rapids, ride out the big surges and wait for rescue.
